Judgment of Compliance: In compliance

Narrative

East Carolina University (hereafter, ECU or the institution) publishes admissions policies that are consistent with its mission.  Students are admitted to the university on the basis of academic qualifications, without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or national origin under the University’s Notice of Non-Discrimination Policy. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to seek admission under the policy outlined by the Office of Disability Support Services Policies and Procedures Manual and published on the Office of Disability Support Services website.

Undergraduate admission policies for all categories of undergraduate students are published in the undergraduate catalog. Freshman and transfer admission policies are in compliance with the state-wide policy established in the University of North Carolina System’s Minimum Course Requirements and Minimum Admission Requirements. The ECU Undergraduate Admissions Staff is a large and diverse group that engages in both on-campus and off-campus recruiting activities. The admissions activities welcome all students, including students with diverse backgrounds, international students, and distance education students.  Admission standards are the same for distance education students and campus students.

Graduate admission policies are published in the Graduate Catalog. The Graduate School strives to meet the evolving needs of our students, the people of North Carolina, the United States, and the world by providing educational, research, and outreach programs designed to address the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. Policies are in place to assist international students as they apply to graduate programs in the university. Transfer credit and examination policies are published in the graduate catalog. Examples of a completed transfer credit form and transfer credit transcript are attached. Additional support services for international students are provided through the ECU’s Office of International Affairs.

Admissions requirements for the Brody School of Medicine’s doctor of medicine program are published on the school’s webpage. Admission policies for the Brody School of Medicine's PhD programs are published in the Graduate Catalog.
